Sunday Update | What I've been loving

It's Sunday once again. This week has been mainly dominated by lacking sunshine, or light whatsoever. I can't shake the feeling that January is the darkest month of them all and even though I love gloomy and rainy days inside I also need some light to function. Especially frustrating when you're living that flatlay life and can't seem to get any nice shots because it's just so damn dark outside. For that matter I've spent my week mostly hibernating and working from bed and trying to replace sunshine with good reads and other things that made me a little bit chirpier.

Youtube & Socials
My first love of the week are Lisa Eldridge make up tutorials. Here is a fun fact about me: Watching someone putting make up on another person is one of the most relaxing and calming things to me. I even get this feeling you also get when someone plays with your hair. Ten minutes into one of Lisa Eldridges tutorials and I am ready ro drift off to sleep because I am that relaxed. I especially love her collaborations with famous make up artists as guests on her channel. Their work and expertise really equals art and you can learn so much from these artists that have put make up on Lady Di, Amy Winehouse, Jessia Chastain, Kate Winslet and many more for their most iconic looks.

Blog & Insta wise I have been loving Liv Purvis from What Olivia Did. Be it her blog posts or her insta stories Liv just takes the most beautiful images with those kind of 70's/parisienne/London girl vibes that I have found myself obsessed with ever since I started following her; which has been a while ago now but this week she really knocked it out of the park with content and she seems such a kind and lovely person as well. A joy to watch all around.

Another social media favourite this week has been Matt Haig on Twitter. He is the author of one of my favourite books 'Reasons to stay alive' and he writes the most inspirational and optimistic tweets for everyone with mental health struggles or for anyone conquering life, really.

Netflix
Netflix finally came through with some new additions in the film department and I really enjoyed watching 'Concussion' starring Will Smith. For one, every Will Smith movie is a good movie in my opinion but more than that this real life story adaptation is filled with suspense, drama and a whole lot of 'Omg I can't believe that' moments. Funny at times but also sad and enraging it makes for great weeknight entertainment.

Books
I started reading 'The Girls' by Emma Cline this Wednesday and are more than halfway through it already. It is a coming of age story of a young girl in California of the late 60's that joins a murderous cult. Emma Clines writing style is beautiful, poetic and athmospheric and I really enjoyed this read so far.

Randoms
Even though it's dark outside and spring still seems ages away I started noticing birds chirping on my daily dog walks and I am loving it. For me it's the first sign of nature coming to life again and hopefully signifies the sun awakening soon as well.

I've had an unhealthy obession with Kinder Buenos for two weeks straight. I need help, but also...do I really want help? I think I'm gonna let my addiction slowly fade out until I find a new chocolatey obsession.

Shopping
I am on a (mostly) strict spending ban at the moment but that doesn't mean I can't stalk products online, does it?

On top of my skincare wishlist are the Caudalie Detox Mask and the Fresh Instant Glow Luminizer. One day they will me mine.

And as always I have been lusting over the New In section of Anthropology . The georgeousness of this shop has no limits and I want EVERYTHING!

Happy Sunday!

xx Laura
