Sooooo.....it's been a while. Apparently working full time and blogging at the same time isn't as doable as I thought it would be. Or at least for me it isn't. And the more time passed without writing blog posts the more afraid und unmotivated I grew to get back into it. But, oh well here I am. Now that I missed all the exciting autumn content I was looking forward to all summer I at least wanted to jump on the train of winter and christmas content which is why I am now ruefully crawling back into the blogosphere.
I have been struggling with extremely oily skin all summer and thought that it was simply due to the heat but once the colder months rolled around my skin was still shiny as ever and I decided to make some changes in my skin care routine. I said good bye to my trusty Clinique Moisture Surge and swapped it for the Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel. It has a similar consistency than the Moisture Surge gel but sinks in much quicker and doesn't sit on the face for ages. Even though my skin doesn't look as plump in the morning, it certainly gets less shiny throughout the day while still remaining quite the glow.
Wonderful side effect to oily skin often are clogged pores, blemishes and black heads - things I have to deal with on a regular basis. Even though my skin is remotely blemish free for the untrained eye, when you look at it with a magnifying mirror while doing your make up, like I do, you can defenietly see the results of my oily skin. So I decided to install a daily pore and blemish treatment into my routine and ended up buying the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo + serum, which I apply after my Biotherm Liquid Glow Oil and before my moisturizer and I am defenietly seeing results. Blemishes tend to heal much quicker and my pores look less clogged. The most impressive thing this has done for my skin though is getting rid of the texture on my forehead I have been annoyed with for almost ten years. Nothing I ever used could get rid of it but this did in the course of just one week. A christmas miracle!
Whenever I still need a heavy duty clean out of my skin, I grab for the Origins Out of Trouble mask, which has become a trusted companion in my battle against oily skin and spots.
Exfoliating-wise I gravitated back towards the Pixi Glow Tonic since it is really gentle and helps to smooth your skin and reveal new and fresh skin cells.
The most important part of finding the right skin care for oily skin is finding the balance between moisturizing and blemish control. A lot of products for oily skin tend to be very harsh and dry out the skin, which will lead to your skin overproducing oils to keep the balance. No need to mention that this is a vicious cycle. So make sure to not lose sight of what your skin needs in your fight against shine and spots.
xx Laura
