Sunday Pamper Habits

I have a split relationship with sundays. On one hand they are divine: you can lay in bed all day, do nothing and no one is gonna say something about it because, after all, it's sunday. On the other hand sunday is followed by monday and you have this feeling of dread all day and can' believe that another weekend has passed in the blink of an eye.

However sundays are also the day I like to pamper and prepare myself for the week ahead. I've now even built a whole sunday pamper routine that I can't live without anymore.

1. Take a bath or a long hot shower

Depending on my mood that day and if I have to wash my hair or not I take a long relaxing bath while watching a movie or listening to a podcast. I like to get all the things done that I'm too lazy and tired for under the week: hair masks, peelings and all that jazz. When I emerge from the bath tub I am one shriveled up human being but I feel all fresh and nice with the dead skin scrubbed off and my hair all fresh and clean.

2. Do a face mask

If I feel like my skin is lost for help I will do a face mask under the week, especially if I had a rough day and need to practice some self care but on sundays it's a ritual. If I don't absolutely have to, sundays are the days on which I don't wear any make up, and can let my skin breathe and regenerate. A face mask just feels so luxirous and lovely and makes you feel like you really did something nice for yourself and your skin after a hard week.

3. Paint my nails

I hope I'm not alone with this but painting my nails is a real pain in the arse. I always manage to touch something with my freshly painted nails because I am THAT annoyingly impatient person and screw up the whole process of accurately and intendly painting each nail. But it has to be done and once they are dried and look all shiny and new I feel good about it.

4. Clean my space

I tend to mess up my living space in the course of each week. Clothes thrown on "the chair", make up laying on top of my vanity instead of in the drawers, chocolate on my bedside table (you know, midnight snacks and all that) and by the end of the week my brain feels all fogged up from it. Clean space, clean mind, is what they say and it really has some truth to it. So I use sundays to tidy up a bit and set my mind at peace.

5. Catch up on reading

I think that there is no day of the week that you can just indulge in a good book just as you can on sundays. In the colder (and more amazing) half of the year I make myself a cup of tea or hot chocolate, get some biscuits and snuggle up with my current book of choice and let the hours just slip by. I recently discovered the fire place film (?) on Netflix which essentially is a fire place for your TV, just without the warmth, but it sets the mood anyway.
