My At-Home Spa Routine

Anyone who knows me just a little bit knows that I am obsessed with everything skincare, face-massage, spa treatments and relaxation. Unfortunately Spa-treatments aren't the most inexpensive hobby which is why it oftentimes comes in handy to have an at-home spa-like routine that doesn't cost you anything (apart from the purchase of skin care products but I do that anyway) but will relax you at least 80% like a real treatment.

First of all I like to get into comfy clothes, maybe a fuzzy bathrobe and get my hair out of my face. Then I will put on a relaxing soundtrack. You can find spa music on Spotify and Youtube but meditation apps also have a lot of relaxing music and nature sounds to offer. Maybe even put on some scented candles or incense to set a calm and relaxed athmosphere.

My first skincare step, is of course, taking my make up off. I am absoluetely in love with the Clinique Take the Day Off cleanser as it gets rid of all make up and dirt and leaves your face feeling fresh and clean. But since this whole routine is about taking time for your skin care I am also going in with a second cleanse. I will use a moisturizing or deep cleansing face wash depending on the state of my skin and then will take some micellar water down the perimeters of my face and my neck.

If I'm feeling extra fancy I will steam my face over a hot bowl of water to prep my pores and make it easier for all the gunk in them to get out but that is a really extra step I am hardly ever motivated to do.

Next I will have a look at my skin and its needs and will (here comes the TMI part) extract some of the very resistant blemishes and black heads before I put on a deep-cleansing mask My recent go-to and new obsession has been the Caudalie Instant Detox Mask which I had been eyeing up for a long time. I've never used a mask with such instant results: my skin feels smooth and soft, pores look significantly smaller and cleaner and my skin has an overall fresher appearance after using it. And with its lavender scent it has spa written all over it and feels like a very luxirious treat for your skin. Just as the Caudalie Beauty Elixir which I have been also loving recently. Be warned though, if you're not a fan of peppermint scents just like me, the smell of it will probably put you a bit off at first but the results made me overlook my contempt for minty products. Definitely the best facial mist in my collection, it leaves you with a noticeble glow. I will spray on the mist after taking the Pixi Glow Tonic over my face and neck with a cotton pad.

For treatment I like to layer on the La Roche Posay Effaclar K+ on the areas of my face that tend to be oily and blemished, the Biotherm Liquid Glow Oil which has been my go-to for years and years and then either the Clinique Dramatically Different or the Clinique Moisture Surge gel depending on how dry my skin is. I also make sure to take my time to thoroughly massage the products into my skin.

Then I will tuck myself into bed and have the most wonderful and relaxed night-time sleep ever. And that completes my at-home spa routine.

Do you also have a special spa/pamper routine?

xx Laura
