Oh summer, season of sweat and sunburn, how I've missed you. In contrast to most people my skin has a harder time in summer than it has in the colder seasons. I think that's due to all the excess oils and make up running down my face and clogging up my pores. With my allergies I also struggle with irritations and redness quite often.
But one thing, that my mother already told me when I was a teenager, is that a healthy amount of vitamin D can really work wonders for your skin. This is however if you take the right precautions to enjoying fun in the sun. Which is why in the summer months applying sunscreen is the most important step in my skincare routine. Apart from being traumatised from a really bad sunburn that left me looking like a raccoon, I am also really anxious about sometime in the future when I will notice my first wrinkles and I am determinded to keep my youth alive as long as humanly possible because I can already tell I am not gonna be one of those women who will keep their chill ageing.
The
Vichy Bronze Gel-Fluid has been a long time skincare stable for me. This thin fluid isn't sticky and doesn't leave a white cast on your face while also helping you to get a nice tan with it's integrated melatonin activators. Perfect for under foundation as well as on make up free beach days.
But before that I apply my trusty
Origins Ginzing moisturizer, which especially in summer has become an absolute lifesaver. Every morning I wake up with an allergies-caused swollen face, this moisturizer depuffs it and makes me feel fresh and ready for the day. It's gel texture is perfect for oily skin types and sinks into the skin in the course of only seconds, which is perfect for the application under foundation.
In the evenings I need a detoxifying treatment as I always feel that in summer all the city pollution mixes with sweat and make up and create a gross cocktail of misery on my face. After a good cleanse I will generously apply the
Biotherm Liquid Glow Oil to make sure that it's amazing antioxidants work their wonders overnight. I defenietly notice a difference if I dont't use this in the evenings. My skin will look more dull and spots and irritations will take a longer time to heal.
Finally, when I need a complete renewal and cleanse of my skin I always gravitate to using the
Origins Rose Clay mask which acts as an exfoliater and radiance boosting mask at once for that good old deep cleanse we all desperately need from time to time.
What does your summer skincare regime consists of?
